You Deserve it

In his talk from the last General Conference, "Finding Joy in the Journey," President Monson says that:

There is no tomorrow to remember if we don't do something today.

I had to think about this for a while, but finally it came to me that this means that if I want to have a productive day tomorrow, I need to start working today, right now. If I want to do well on my Econ midterm on Saturday, I need to start studying today. If I want God's presence in my day tomorrow, I need to invite him today.

Just this morning, I read Joshua 3:5, which says to:

Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.

I prepare for tomorrow's miracles by what I do today. I'm behind in all my classes, and catching up will require strength and ability way beyond my own capacity, but by trying my best today, God will be able to help me tomorrow.

Right after I finished reading these scriptures and thinking about this this morning, I got a text message from my Dad, which was about the best text I've ever received. He said:

Good morning my dear, beautiful daughter! You deserve a great day, so have one.

Could there be any better reminder of my dad's love for me? To me, this is how Heavenly Father feels towards us every morning of every new day. We deserve happiness, so let's have it. Let's have wonderful today's and even more wonderful tomorrows.

Awe, I got a little weepy when I read this.

Some because I love you and your family and wish the same for you;
some because I miss my dad and I know he loves me like that; and some because I know Mark and it is nice to see how kind he his to his beautiful daughters that deserve it so much!!

I love the empowerment of that text. We deserve happiness, so go out and make it!! Don't wait for something or someone to make it, you can choose to be happy, now, today. By so doing, you will be happy tomorrow.

Good luck on your tests, love you!

What a wonderful post!

Everyone deserves such happiness. I love that your dad sent you that text -- I'm sure that's how Heavenly Father feels for us every new day as well.

I'm a little teary-eyed myself! What a great message to start your day, and what a fantastic reminder that Heavenly Father would send us that same text message every day.

You're one amazing girl. I love you!

Very sound and tender advice. Thanks!

I'm going to rememeber your words for the next month or so, really remember them! I have about the most stressful 6 weeks coming up and no one can really help me, I have to do it all myself. Or, the majority of it anyway. Sometimes, the amount of work and responsibility just seems like the impossible task.I mean, really! Tonight as I was closing my scriptures, this little conference quote that I wrote down to myself fell out. I love this!! You might like it too. It makes the impossible tasks ahead seem like a challenge for improvement and growth.

"Going past the point of fatigue refines us and prepares us to endure to the end...to draw closer to God" Henry B. Iring

I hope you like it too. Love you. And, I love your Dad!
