For the first time this semester, I am so excited for the week ahead! I have two big midterms to tackle, and plenty of goals and plans, and I cannot wait to get started. In times past, I would be ready for such a week, but more braced for the onslaught rather than excited to take it on. This week, however, I have energy and I am ready to go. I attribute this and many recent miracles to the 10-6 plan. My love for this schedule is increasing more and more as I see the little miracles that have resulted from it. There is hardly anything more satisfying to me than walking up to campus for class at 9:00, knowing that I've already written a paper. I had a lot of homework last week, so I got up at 5:00 on Wednesday and Thursday to give myself extra time, and it was wonderful! There are so many less distractions early in the morning, so my time is far more productive. I feel like President Hinckley knew me when he gave this direction, and I know that he's watching me now. It's as though the Lord was just waiting for me to make this change so that he could do the rest. After years of praying for the discipline to be an early-riser, I've experienced an almost instant change in my ability to get up each morning when I plan to. I cannot express how much I love this, nor how blessed I've been lately.
President Monson, prophet and president of our church, gave a fireside here last month, and the next Tuesday, Elder Holland, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, spoke at devotional. Both spoke about moving forward with courage and not looking back. Elder Holland was especially direct in telling us that we must do this and that we can. I can't look back and wish that I were still living at home and working on the musical with Mom and John, no matter how much I would love that. We are meant to progress in this life, and there's always more blessings and more happiness ahead if we keep moving forward. God's goodness and love are endless, and we can't receive the fullness of those blessings if we don't face what's ahead and work our hardest to do what the Lord wants us to do.
I know that I have important work to do here, and what I do each day can bring me closer to fulfilling those purposes. Right now, I am preparing for my future and for my future family. My life is wonderful, and my heart is so full of gratitude for who I am and all that I can become through God's grace and his plan.

You are amazing and inspiring. I tried to follow your lead and woke up early 3 days last week and I could tell a difference mostly on my attitude and how I felt. (It is difficult when your husband won't go to bed and wants to spend "quality time" with you at 10pm because he has been in meetings all night long...)
I am glad that things are going well. I hope the new roomie is ok. Good luck with your tests!
BTW, check out my new blog if you have a sec.http://aprilsacademyforyoungmusicians.blogspot.com/
Thanks Emily this was such a cheerful bright post. It's exactly what I needed to hear today.
This is EXACTLY what I needed to read for encouragement today. I am feeling so tired right now and still have so much to do, but I know that if I do all I can, the Lord will make up the difference.
Aren't you glad to have a friend like President Hinckley?
Wonderful! I'm so glad your new schedule is working out so well for you, Emily. And I love that you have a 10-6 label!
Going to campus at 9am, already having written a paper, is nothing to sneeze at! Seriously impressive.
I love your words. I love you! I feel like a very proud Aunt, reading these words and wishing that I could have you for my personal assistant! (I just hired a new one and she's not half as cute or fun as you)!
I, like your Mother, feel like I'm in a place that is about to swallow me up. I totally have more to do physically than can actually be done in the given timethat I have to do it. I'm feeling not only overwhelmed, but a bit scared! I will take your advice to heart and to prayer. I already know that I will feel better when I apply my faith in your words as given by the Prohpet.
Thank you for sharing this. I love you.
