After almost three weeks of eating Mom's food in abundance, I am back to menus of a single college student.
Jordin and I spared little time before making our "Signature Stir-Fry." I don't think that it is actually stir-fry. It's cut up chicken breast, cooked in a skillet with butter. Then we toss in whatever vegetables we have on hand and eat it over rice or potatoes.

Aren't those satisfying colors? We love the cooking, smelling, and eating of this tasty dish.
Thanks goodness for our big batch of Sunday stir-fry, because I was running dangerously low on food this week due to lack of time and a ride for grocery shopping.

Depicted above are sad contents of my portion of refrigerator space. I also had flour, butter, and milk, so biscuits were a staple this week.

Also, my ever-comforting and refreshing Big Swig! My currently preferred beverage mix is Diet Pepsi with a shot of Dr. Pepper. My walk to the gas station is always a highlight. I usually combine my stroll with a phone call to a family member or some leisure reading. (The icy state of the sidewalks right now adds a new level of risk to my reading-walking endeavors. It's hard to navigate ice and slush while also giving my attention to a novel. I make it work.)
Postscript: I went grocery shopping last night. I'm back in the black food-wise. Hooray!

Oh dear, that is a pretty sad picture of your fridge! I can take you shopping before things get that desperate. Glad you're back in the black.
Your Sunday stir-fry is yet another reason I'm glad you have Jordin!
Oh dear, what a change from the comforting meals of home. I'm glad you and Jordin are able to make things work; biscuits are a favorite of mine.
You are brave/crazy to continue to read while navigating the icy sidewalks. This year has been so treacherous that I walk like an 80 year old!
I didn't realize you read and walked simultaneously! That does sound a bit treacherous on icy sidewalks. In flats. With no socks. I won't tell Dad.
I makes my mother's heart sing to see all of those pretty vegetables!
Dear Emily,
If I lived nearer I would take you to the store. Any time.
Love, Claire
I'm proud of you for reading while you walk. You know I do the same.
I am usually busy trying to keep my small brood upright on the ice to be able to indulge in reading while I walked. In fact, all reading while I walked ceased when I became a mother, so live it up!
Yeah, I kind of miss reading while walking! It's a good kind of multi-tasking.
