Taking the Reins

I've spent my whole life watching my Mom. I watch her many tricks and talents at work in the kitchen; I watch her make careful grocery lists and I go the Sam's Club and King Soopers with her and watch her play the coupon game. I'm watching and learning for when I'm the boss, and last week, I had the chance to put my years of apprenticeship to the test.

Mom had a hair appointment for last Wednesday night, so she put me in charge of the encharitos. (Enchiladas made with flour tortillas and pinto beans. Mmm.) Delighted, I donned my apron, put all the ingredients for encharito assemblage on the butcher block, and went to town. The meal was a success, and I was giddy the whole night with my domestic success.

You're welcome.

You should be giddy with your domestic success! And your mom is the perfect role model to watch.

I love that you like doing domestic things! And I love that you blogged about it, too. And of course, I love that I could leave you in charge of dinner with no worries!

Your Mom (and everyone else) is lucky to have you apprenticing! From what I know, you;re well on your way!

And it sounds as if you are lucky to have sisterly help!!

I just love it that I enjoy cooking and baking. Linda Giler and I are always saying if the retail doesn't kick in, we could always have a jewelry and bake shop! I may need some real apprentice help!
