My daily schedule has drastically changed of late from trying to fit in as much studying and packing as I could into as little time as I had, to being home, doing nothing academic. My prime objective now is finding a job, but that's pretty tough currently. I've been applying to several places, and am excited for when I finally find something, because then I can start psyching myself up for spending 40 hours a week there. Yippee.
Some of my top picks for employment are:
-Mountain Vista Retirement Center
I applied for a housekeeping position there that I found on Craig's List. It's a 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. shift, Monday through Friday, and though it would feel like getting up for seminary again, at least it's close to home, and I would be finished early and could do some part time work in the afternoon/evenings.
-King Soopers grocery
Colorado grocery workers are currently negotiating their contracts, and I was hired last week as a temporary worker in case they strike. The pay is good, and I think it could be fun to be a checker at my favorite Kroger retailer. Unfortunately, contract negotiations are going smoothly, so I will unlikely have any work. I did get my very impressive paycheck of $18.23 today for the training I completed last week. I am living large, baby. I did decide that every time I'm shopping at King Soopers, I'm going to sow seeds of discontent with the employees. Subtle comments like, "I can't believe the terms they're trying to get you to agree to!" and "I would never accept that excuse of a contract; you call those benefits?!" and "I can make help you guys make some pretty sweet picket signs, if you know what I mean."
-Moosehill Cantina
This is a local Mexican restaurant. I've never dined there, seeing as my Mexican money always goes to Senor Burritos, but my friend Hannah works there, and can maybe get me a hostessing position. It wouldn't be too many hours, and the pay is minimal, but it's something, and I'd get free burritos.
Dad emailed me some links to Census and federal job opportunities, so I'm going to take a look at those tomorrow. At least I have a few cleaning clients (my Grandparents included) whose employ keeps gas in my car.

Dick's Sporting Goods is hiring, and you don't have to know sports to work there...especially in apparel, which is where they're hiring. Just a thought:)
Haha, Cheyne, that's a good point. Can you imagine Emily at Dick's?? Funny, funny picture. We will both find jobs! I do wish that you could have been a scab, though.
I remember the home-for-the-summer job hunt so well. I always had data entry jobs, so I spent all my summers inside a cubicle typing.
I'm totally cracking up at the thought of you sewing seeds of discontent among the checkers at the grocery store!
I hope you get Moose Hill! We go there regularly!
I can totally picture you sewing seeds of discontent among the Kroger emloyees! The thought of you working at Dick's, however--now that's a funny, oxymoronic mental picture.
I am dying over you sowing seeds of discontent at King Soopers!! Hilarious. I hope you find something that will suitably fill your time and your bank account while allowing you plenty of time for your knitting escapades...
Nate and I feel your job hunting pain. Good luck! I know you'll find something wonderful.
I know you posted this awhile ago. I hope you have found a job. If not have fun spending time with your family.
I'm right there with Michelle! I"m sure something will come up that will fill the needs for cash flow/savings and be an "Emily project" at the same time. The employment world just doesn't know what they are missing!
Keep your chin up and push forward!
Does your Mother's boss need any help doing construction clean-up?
